From 4 to 11 July 2026, the Faculty of Maritime Studies at the University of Montenegro in Kotor hosted a consortium meeting of the APVV Danube Strategy 2024 project entitled “Electron beam weldability and properties of 316LSi stainless steel printed with laser metal deposition” (DS-FR-24-0017).
The Faculty of Materials Science and Technology STU was represented by Ing. Martin Sahul, PhD., leader of the Slovak project team, and Ing. Michaela Halmanová, a full-time doctoral student. The Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the Czech Technical University in Prague was represented by Ing. Miroslav Sahul, Ph.D., IWE, leader of the Czech project team, and Ing. Tomáš Němec, IWE, a full-time doctoral student. The project researchers met with representatives of the host institution: Dr. Tatijana Dlabač, Dean of the Faculty of Maritime Studies; Prof. Špiro Ivošević, leader of the Montenegrin project team; and Dr. Draško Kovač, researcher.
During the working meetings, the results achieved within the project to date were presented, and the future direction of the joint research was discussed. The partners focused primarily on planning follow-up experimental activities, preparing joint scientific publications, developing future project proposals, and identifying further opportunities to strengthen cooperation among the participating institutions.
Ing. Barbora Ludrovcová, PhD., researcher, and Ing. Simona Hornáčková, a full-time doctoral student at MTF STU, also participated in the joint professional activities through Erasmus+ ICM mobilities. During their stay, corrosion tests of samples in a seawater environment were also carried out.
The meeting provided an opportunity to evaluate the progress of the project, exchange professional experience, and coordinate further joint tasks. International cooperation enables the project teams to share scientific knowledge, use specialised equipment available at the partner institutions, and develop professional contacts among researchers and doctoral students. It also creates favourable conditions for joint publications, the preparation of new international projects, and long-term cooperation between the partner institutions.
