From 19 May to 22 May 2026, employees of the Institute of Production Technologies, MTF STU - Ing. Barbora Ludrovcová, PhD., Ing. Boris Pätoprstý, PhD., Ing. František Jurina, PhD., Ing. Tomáš Vopát, PhD. (online), and an employee of the Institute of Materials Science, MTF STU, Ing. Martin Sahul, PhD., actively participated in the 8th CIRP Conference on Surface Integrity, held in Yokohama, Japan.
The conference is organised every two years under the auspices of CIRP - The International Academy for Production Engineering, in cooperation with industrial partners such as DMG Mori and Mitutoyo. The main objective of the event was to exchange the latest scientific knowledge and experience in the field of surface integrity of various materials.
The individual technical sessions focused on current trends and innovations in surface engineering, the influence of various technological processes on resulting surface properties, and the relationships between surface integrity and functional performance.
During the conference, scientific contributions related to the following projects were presented: APVV-22-0393 Environmental friction coatings for extreme tribological applications (Barbora Ludrovcová and Martin Sahul), APVV-21-0071 Research of unique unconventional methods of preparation of cutting edge microgeometry to increase cutting tool performance and machining productivity (Boris Pätoprstý), VEGA 1/0266/23 Research into the innovative unconventional methods of preparation of cutting edge microgeometry to increase the tool life of cutting tools (František Jurina), and 09I03-03-V04-00393 The use of plasma discharges as a new approach for edge preparation of cutting tools (Tomáš Vopát).
The papers presented at the conference will be published in the journal Procedia CIRP.
