We are bringing the content about the latest articles about the MTF STU in the media which we have noticed recently.
News from the Town Hall, year XXIII, number 3, date 4th April 2012" Swimming parade on Prednadrazie.
The in house swimming pool at the MTF STU in Trnava Prednadrazie was used on the 10th and 11th of March for the 38th top international competition. In the program of the great prize of Trnava 2012, there were twenty disciplines for men and women and there were also six competitions for pupils.
The main competition in the twenty 25 m swimming pool was butterfly style for 200 m
On Saturday afternoon a new record was broke. There were several competitions, for example, the memorial of Jozef Stanko who was a long term member of Trnava swimming club.
There were 362 sportsmen from 31 clubs, guests included competitors from 31 clubs outside of Slovakia- Czech Republic, Hungary and France. We had approximately 100 racing team members and seventeen trainers. Trnava came third in last year's evaluation of all Slovak clubs. Next year Trnava will celebrate it's 4th anniversary of forming its swimming team.
Trnava voice, 04/04/2012: MTF teaching is
tailored towards Business students
The Faculty of Material Science and Technology (MTF) of the Slovak Technical
University in Trnava, in recent years is
known more due to the centre of excellence.

books. Photo: Michal Hlavatovič
Doing R & D in Slovak universities is still quite difficult. Lacking money
for which they would buy high-end machines. The MTF was due for nearly a four
million Euro grant from the Agency of the Ministry of Education, the Centre of
5axis machining is so unique therefore who will benefit from this?
Perfect five axis
Three large machines are first encountered in the large hall. Components are
spun in the machines at a fast rotation.
"These machines can produce parts of complex shapes that are used in
engineering- automotive and aerospace industry," says Associate Professor
Peter Pokorny.
For example, such as a bust. We can produce art casting, but equally we could
produce machine parts. "Because the material is treated in five stages,
the result is perfect," explains Peter Pokorny.
PhD student Marek Zvončan stands at the machine and enters the information into
the computer that is connected to it. "This is a 5 axis milling machine.
For example, in the German village Stipshausen, thanks to this machine, it made
dentures. "The machine has a built-in ultrasonic generator, tool that
vibrates. This machine can also machine very hard materials like ceramics or
steel, " explained a doctoral student.
A complicated idea
With the same machine as an American working in Kansas, it's amazing that I can
try experiments out here which had changed parameters and achieved different
results. This is a move forward, "says Mark Zvončan. The faculty wants me to
stay after graduation and do further research.
The next time the machine is working, due to Martin Kovac, it can track
machining machine components that could be used in the aerospace industry.
Companies to meet.
Martin Kovac has currently helping his student's diploma work and has suggested
the technology to produce parts for SES Tlmače.
Faculty can also ask the company to develop specific components that are needed.
"They approached us via Sachs, subcontractors for Volkswagen, and
measurements are made for Peugeot in Trnava.
Spolupracovať want and the automotive cluster, "says Associate Professor
Peter Pokorny.
Ideal for faculty would be if the company required a number of students trained
for a particular purpose. "They would say, teaching them to do exactly
what we need, and we employ. This is the goal which we want to reach through the centre of
excellence, "says Associate Professor Pokorny, it looks quite promising.
