The Faculty of Materials Science and Technology in Trnava was established on 1 January 1986 by decree of the Czechoslovak Government.

The credit system introduced at the Slovak University of Technology (STU) has been implemented in all three degrees of the university education at MTF STU, in compliance with the law and accreditation within the defined standard length of study for both full-time and part-time study forms.
