Institute, Inc..) North Caroline,
USA.

2.4.2009 - Prof. Karol Balog was awarded the Golden Rescue Cross for 2008
On
Thursday the 2nd of April 2009 at the premises
of PKO Bratislava the third annual prestigious competition from the Rescue
magazine named Rescue Report "Golden Cross rescue for the year
2008" was held. Prof. Ing. Karol Balog, Csc.- FMST SUT employee ,
was awarded the "Golden Cross rescue for the year 2008" in the
category of an Outstanding Contribution for the rescue area.

Employees of the FMST
SUT staff celebrated the 60th anniversary of the
Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, University of West
Bohemia in Plzen. On Friday the 24th
of April 2009 a
formal meeting of the Scientific Council from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering of the University of West Bohemia
in Plzen was
held to celebrate the 60th anniversary
of the faculty. On this occasion the following
people were awarded by the dean of their faculty - Associate Professor Ing. Jiri Stanek, CSc. ;
RNDr. Maria Behúlová, Csc. and Professor DR. Ing. Oliver Moravčík were
awarded a commemorative medal from the FMST SUT workers.
11.5.2009 - Awarded
employees from the Faculty of Materials Science and Technology SUT.
On the 11th of May 2009 in the Congress Hall of Doprastav in Bratislava a
meeting of experts from the Union of
Slovak science companies' FORUM ZSVTS 2009" took place. Approximately 80
participants attended who were representing various professional societies,
including guests from the Czech partner organization. The theme of the meeting
was to assess what the global trends in this field are, as they help individual
companies to deal with fulfilling the vision of Slovakia in the year 2030. A part of the FORUM
was to award union awards, the association
has also granted awards to our staff of the FMST SUT. The gold medal of the ZSVTS
was received by Prof. Ing. Pavel
Blaškovitš, DrSc who assessed the situation in the field of welding, tribology
and tribotechnology.
The silver medal was awarded to - Ing. Stefan Svetsky for his reviews of surface treatment corrosion protection.
The honorary award for the recognition of a young worker was awarded by ZSVTS to
Ing. Erika Hodúlovaj, PhD. for her activity in the management of professional events.4/11/2009 - Award "Personality of science and technology" to Professor Urban from the FMST SUT.
During this week of Science and Technology in Slovakia the honoured scientific personalities and scientific teams were awarded. The award of the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Education for Science and Technology 2009, from the hands of the Minister Ján Mikolaj on Wednesday the 4th of November 2009 was received by the outstanding personalities of scientific life in Slovakia. Awards were received for their work, particularly for their results and further merits in science and technology. Awards were held in four categories: personality science and technology, scientific and technical team of the year, continuing merit in science technology and personality of science and technology for the under 35 year olds. This year in the category of Personality of science and technology was awarded to the valued employee from UMAT FMST SUT- Prof. RNDr. Miroslav Urban, Csc. for his outstanding achievements in the development and applications of quantum chemistry and for an excellent representation of Slovak science in the world. Awards have been handed over to the Grand Gala which took place on May 4th November 2009.
27.11.2009 - Awards for "Top quality manager" from the FMST SUT.
The Office for Standards, Metrology and Testing of the Slovak Republic declared the VII year of the Top Quality Manager in 2009. The contest was organized under the auspices of the National Quality Program of the Slovak Republic. The Dean of the Faculty presented the Award for "Top Manager 2009" to Associate Professor Ing. Iveta Paulová, PhD, who passed demanding criteria of the competition and became the winner of Category B, Top quality manager of the year in the government sector.
14.12.2009 - Award of the best professors of the FMST SUT.
The Rector of the Slovak Technical University in Bratislava awarded annually, since 2001 on the basis of proposals from the deans of faculties- the award for the best professor. On the proposal of the Dean of the FMST SUT- Professor Moravcik, this year awarded the best professor of the Slovak Technical University to Prof. Ing.Jozef Janovec, DrSc., who is working in UMAT at the Faculty of Materials Science at the SUT.
Award for Associate Professor Hrma lecturer from the Czech Agricultural University in Prague.
By the proposal of Prof. Ing. Milan Slavík, CSc.- Director of the Institute of education and counselling CZU Prague, and by the approval of the Scientific Council and on behalf of the CZU Rector Prof. Ing. Jan Hron, DrSc., Dr.hc, was awarded by the Czech Agricultural University in Prague a commemorative medal "200 years of high Agricultural University in Bohemia ' to Associate Professor Ing. Hrma Roman, PhD. for his long term work and his development in scientific research and teaching activities in the development of training Teachers - Engineers.
