On January 20, 2026, leading representatives of the prestigious world university Imperial College London in the field of nuclear energy, Jonathan G. Tate and Michael J. Bluck, visited the Faculty of Materials Science and Technology in Trnava. The visit was also attended by Assoc. Prof. Ing. Martin Rebroš, PhD., STU Vice-Rector for Science, Research and Foreign Projects, Jari Hämäläinen, Advisor to the STU Rector for Strategic Development and Internationalization, as well as Martina Kokavec Beďatšová and Vojtech Przybyla, representatives of the Ministry of Education, Research, Development and Youth of the Slovak Republic.
The delegation was received by the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Ing. Miloš Čambál, CSc., together with Prof. Ing. Peter Šugár, CSc., Vice-Dean for Science and Research, and Ing. Libor Ďuriška, PhD., Vice-Dean for Strategic Projects and Mobility.
The main topic of the meeting was the nuclear energy and nuclear power in the context of research and education in Slovakia. The faculty's activities in this area were presented to the guests by Prof. Ing. Mária Dománková, PhD. (Institute of Materials), Prof. Ing. Jozef Martinka, PhD. (Institute of Integrated Safety), Assoc. Prof. Ing. Jozef Bárta, PhD. (Institute of Production Technologies) and Mgr. Zoltán Száraz, Ph.D. (Advanced Technologies Research Institute), who also accompanied the delegation through the laboratories of the institute.
The meeting formed an important basis for the gradual development of mutual cooperation between the MTF STU and Imperial College London, especially in the area of joint research, academic mobility, exchange of professional knowledge and involvement in international educational and research projects, focused primarily on the field of nuclear energy.
