On the 22nd of September 2008, the decree ceremony took place conferring the honorary title of doctor honoris causa of the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava to Academic Boris Patonov Jevgenievič - Director of the Institute of Electrowelding of E. O. Paton in Kiev, who i salso the President of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukraine, now has his 90th anniversary.
The decree was give to the Academic B. J. Professor Paton by prof Ing. Peter Grgač, CSc.- Vice Dean of the MTF STU in the presence of Ambassador of the Slovak Republic in the Ukraine- Mr. Urban Rusnak, prof. Ing. Peter Sakal, CSc. from the MTF STU and senior workers of the Institute of Electrowelding E. O. Paton - Deputy Director Academic L. M. Lobanov, scientific secretary of the Professor L. Kyrejev and the Head of the Technology Transfer Centre - prof. A. Kajdalov. The handing of the decree was made in the building Presidency of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukraine in Kiev. During the meeting past cooperation was mentioned between the Institute of Electrowelding and the Slovak institutions. Academic Paton praised the cooperation with prof. Ing. Ivan Hrivňák, DrCSc., Professor Emeritus of the STU in Bratislava, who in 1992 was elected as academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Ukraine. During informal discussions both parties expressed interest in expanding cooperation in the future.
