On the 17th May 2013, on the premises of the Faculty of Materials Science and Technology STU in Trnava, the ceremonial start of construction of the University science park in Trnava took place.
This major event was attended by distinguished guests from domestic and foreign academic, economic and social life.
The program of the event began with a welcoming ceremony by the Dean of the MTF STU. Dr. h. c. Prof. Dr. Ing. Oliver Moravčík, who asked the following special guests for their speeches: the Rector of the STU - Prof. Ing. Robert Redhammer, PhD. and the Minister of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic - Mr Dušan Čaplovič. The speeches were expressions of recognition of several years of effort and perseverance, which preceded the entire project. There was a shared joy of the aims that were affirmed in the speeches by one of the directors of Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf -Dr.hc Prof. Dr. Peter Joehnk, the Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development of SR, Mr Lubomir Jahnatek and the Chairman of the Trnava Municipal Region - Dr. h. c. Ing. Tibor Mikus, PhD.
After the ceremonial speeches, the disclosure of the plaque took place. In the future, the plaque will be on the wall of the building to commemorate this day. The following commenced construction: The Slovak Minister -Dušan Čaplovič, the Rector of the STU -Róbert Redhammer and the Dean of the Faculty- Oliver Moravčík.
After these events, a press conference took place. The event continued with broad debates, friendly talks and mutual feelings of proud achievements. We all agreed that the opening ceremony was over but it had only just started.
This day (17.05.2013) launched the first phase in the creation of the University science park construction. The first part is called Materials research - Slovakion. This project will create a park with the latest technologies at a global level:
The scientific department of Materials Research with Laboratories:
- Laboratory of ion beam technologies
- Laboratory of plasma modification and deposition
- Laboratory of analytical methods
- Laboratory of computer modeling.
The department will primarily be focused on the field of materials engineering in the field of ion and plasma technologies.
