Dozens of successful pedagogues and also other personalities from social life, on the 28th of March 2011 were awarded by the Minister of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic Eugen Jurzyca. The event was held on the occasion of the Teachers' Day. A total of 58 personalities were given one of three awards that were named by St Goraz:
Great medal, small medal and a letter of thanks were awarded to participants for their long pedagogical work, special results gained in educational processes and also for innovative attitudes in education.
One of those who were awarded a large medal of St. Gorazd was Dr. h.c., prof. Ing. Ivan Hrivnak DrSc., professor emeritus, long time employee of the MTF STU.
Prof_Hrivnak is one of the most important scientific- pedagogical and personalities working at the MTF STU during its 25-year history.
He founded the internationally recognized scientific school in the field of welding ability of steels. He successfully represented Czechoslovakia and later Slovak Science and Technology in important international organizations (e.g. International Institute of Welding). During his 50-year teaching career he lectured profiled subjects at several home and foreign universities,
has educated dozens of graduates and a total of 58 doctoral students.
Always characterized by extraordinary stamina, a high level of expertise and an ability to find fair and pragmatic solutions. His 15 monographs poznatkový significantly enriched the knowledge fund of Slovak and world professional literature. He has significantly helped to spread the reputation of our faculty and STU at home and abroad.
