We bring you the latest content of the latest articles about the MTF STU in the media which we have recently noted. One spectrum no.2, year XIX: MTF – one of the exhibitors in Brno.
The faculty of Materials Science and Technology STU, with its residence in Trnava, during the 10th - 14th of September 2012, actively participated in the most important industrial fair in central Europe – the International Engineering Fair 2012 in Brno. There was not just one fair but a few that happened simultaneously in the same place, these were:
The International Fair of Machining and Forming Technology IMT, Fond-X, Welding, Health and Safety at work Interprotec, Plastexs and Profintech. The visitors were highly professional and there were over one thousand five hundred exhibitors and eighty thousand visitors.
The MTF STU introduced the Centres of Excellence and the research characteristics of its institutes, research and development, transfer of technologies, finance and other services.
In the frame of the project transfer of technologies and innovations, the aim of which was to support the transfer of results from research into industrial practice. The offer of scientific research activities of universities and research centres was presented to the visitors.
The exhibit booth of the MTF STU was situated on the ground floor of Pavillion A1. During the five days of the fair, representatives from the institutes of the faculty were actively making contacts for co-operation with industry and presented the faculty’s scientific research activities to a targeted group of visitors- production firms, investors and entrepreneurs. Deputies from the MTF’s institute of materials – doc. Ing. Lubomir Caplovic, Phd. and Mgr. Magda Peteryova were offering professional information on behalf of the Centre for Development and Application in progressive diagnostic methods in processes of elaborating metallic and non-metallic materials. The results of the research activities of machining of the Five Axis Centre of Excellence were presented by Ing. Marek Zvoncan, Phd., Ing. Martin Kovac, Phd. and institutes of the faculty were represented by Ing. Michal Kopcek, Phd., Ing Thomas Skulavik, Phd. and Ing Martina Jankabova, Phd. Discussions with practice were vivid and used exhibits from the faculty, such as models of a suggested memory coin or models from five axis machining forming and a model of a joint implant. This important event attracted the attention of the media with a program which contained professional conferences, workshops and seminars that dealt with actual technical business and economic topics. The highlight of the fair was a visit from the Czech Republic’s President – Vaclav Klaus who looked at the exhibitions including the MTF’s. Previous botanical garden
One of the main aims of the project Zlepsime SPPolocne Slovensko, which was announced by the Slovak industrial gas foundation SPP and EkoFond, was to help local communities to improve their quality of life. Out of seven hundred projects, the organizers, via a public poll, selected two hundred and forty projects; this included the winning project “Previous botanical garden in Trnava” which was submitted by the MTF STU in Trnava. The project gained seven hundred and seventy seven votes which gives it the sixth place in the category of SPPolocne pre domovinu v regione zapad. The money will be used to solve the present problem of a previous hole that has been filled with building rubble, for the creation of paths to certain trees and bushes and for the creation of an educational trail. Forming 2012
During the beginning of September in the Polish town of Zakopanen, the nineteenth international conference of plasticity and forming of materials took place. The MTF STU in Trnava, since 2001, is acting as a co-organizer. The conference held sixty four specialists from universities in Poland, the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Experts from important research institutes and firms were also present. The conference lasted four days and fifty papers were published and presented. The Jubilee’s twentieth year of this important scientific event will take place in Slovakia during the first half of September 2013.
STU at the fair of education in Canada
On the 26th of September 2012 in Ottawa and on the 28th of September in Toronto, the prestigious fair of “Study and go Abroad” took place. This is one of the largest Canadian fairs that is targeted at the field of university study. This was especially orientated towards Canadian university students who are interested in studying abroad. Space was allocated for foreign universities and educational institutions to allow for publicity and presentations of study programs. Members of the academic community and foreign members of the private sector and the public sector represented their countries as possible study destinations. The Ambassador of the Slovak republic in Ottawa represented the Slovak Republic. The MTF STU participated in the furnishing of the Slovak Republic’s booth. The delegation of the STU took place and was lead by the Dean Prof. O. Moravcik. The booth was visited by thousands of visitors. The participation of the Slovak Republic at the fair significantly added quality to the representation of the Slovak educational institutions which offer quality study programs, some are in English which makes them more attractive amongst English speaking foreign students.
Graduation ceremony of doctoral students
During the end of the academic year of 2011/2012 graduation ceremonies took place in Aula of Dionyz Ilkovic in Bratislava, these were of doctoral studies from the faculties and institutes of the STU. The Rector of the STU – Robert Redhammer decided to award three graduates of doctoral study for their excellent study results; the students were: Ing. Evona Cernickova,Phd. from the faculty of materials science and technology, Ing. Gabriela Lutisinova, Phd., from the faculty of chemical and food technology and Ing. Marian Simko, Phd. from the faculty of informatics and information technologies. The awards were presented together with financial awards to encourage motivation; these were presented by the Rector.
