The Faculty of Materials Science and Technology (MTF STU) in Trnava, Institute of Industrial Engineering and Management in collaboration with the European Alliance for Innovation in Slovakia, and its partner, the European Alliance for Innovation, in Brussels, organized the first International Conference on Mobility and Smart Cities 2014. This IoT collocated event took place in Rome on the 27th and 29th October 2014 as one of main conferences related to the IoT 360 Summit.
The general chairs of the conference were assoc. prof. M.A. Dagmar Cagáňová, PhD. and assoc. prof. Jana Šujanová, PhD. from the Institute of Industrial Engineering and Management, MTF STU in Trnava. The conference featured keynote presentations were given by prof. Milan Dado, the dean of the Faculty of Electronics, TU Zilina, Slovakia and a coordinator of the project ERA Chair H2020, who discussed the “Challenges and Unwanted Features of the Smarter Cities Development” and on the second day by Prof. George Teodorescu, from the International Institute for Integral Innovation, Köln, Germany who discussed the topic of “Parking Zero”.
The conference included a wide variety of research presentations given by speakers from universities in several countries including Japan, Singapore, South Korea, Great Britain, Spain, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Serbia, Romania, Poland and a significant group of Slovak presenters from STU Bratislava faculties.
The goal of the International Conference on Mobility and Smart Cities 2014 was to provide a platform for the cross-fertilization of ideas and to present cutting edge innovations and technologies for sustainable solutions to the mobility and smart cities agenda. The focus of the conference reflected the EU thematic priorities for the research and innovation to improve the quality of life of citizens and make cities more sustainable with less impact to the environment. The conference presented participants with a unique opportunity to engage with different stakeholders from across Europe and around the world. In doing so, the conference offered an ideal platform to empower the triple helix of university research, industry and government, whilst also providing innovative opportunities focusing on the growth and development of mobility and smart cities.
