SME www.sme.sk, 04/10/2012: Energy in the region of Trnava is discussed.
Energy source regions - present and future are the subject of today's scientific conference in Trnava.
TRNAVA. On the premises of the Faculty of Materials Science and Technology (MTF) of the Slovak University of Technology (STU) and at the invitation of the Trnava region (TTSK) had a meeting of more than a hundred participants, from experts, government representatives and government, as well as university students and secondary schools.
The event was opened by the President of TTSK - Tibor Mikus. "The time has come for us to seriously address the issue of not only environmental education and environmental literacy, but we should pay close attention to energy literacy," he said.
According to his representations of power it is undoubtedly an issue that in recent decades, has been gaining importance, not only in debates at a national level but also at a regional level. "Because energy is not only electricity, it can also be in the form of heat generation and a supply of fuel. We have to deal with the way in which we maximize the potential of the existing natural, human, industrial, educational, basic needs of citizens in order to obtain cheap enough energy." said the President of the TTSK.
The conference is divided into three themes. In the first, use of solar, hydro, geothermal and wind energy which are included by foreign guests that have been invited to the lectures regarding practical priorities in the planning of renewable energy in Denmark, and the possibilities of using geothermal energy in Germany.
The thematic range called Material and energy utilization of biomass and waste will be discussed over today in a talk about biogas plants as a source of energy waste. In the third circle of regional energy resources are performances by experts in energy safety for Slovakia, the liberalization of the electricity market and the measures to increase the safety of nuclear stress tests.
The last lecture of the Conference will be on the issue of decommissioning nuclear power plants in Bohunice.
"Generally, if you want to address the issue, which is important for the development of society as a whole, you can begin to discuss this topic professionally, openly, and of course, as educated people," as explained in today’s events by Mikuš.
