1) Trnavské noviny: Conferences at the MTF STU and lectures for the public

The autumn season at the Faculty of Materials Science and Technology STU in Trnava is usually linked with the organization of scientific conferences.
TRNAVA. A few days ago, on the 11th and 12th of October 2012, at the MTF STU held an International Scientific Conference CO-MATTECH 2012 "Global Crisis - Opportunities and Threats", the Minister of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic Dušan Caplovic gave patronage. A week earlier, on the 04/10/2012, the Chairman of the Autonomous Trnava region-Tibor Mikus opened the scientific conference called Energy resources of regions - present and future. The co-organizer of the event was also the faculty of Materials Science and Technology which welcomed the participants of the conference at its premises on Paulinska Street in Trnava. The scientific conference created a space for presentation issues in the field of solar, hydro, geothermal and wind energy, the area of material and energy utilization of biomass and waste as well as in the area of energy resources of regions. The event was held under the auspices of the Slovak Republic’s President- Ivan Gašparovič. On behalf of the Dean of the faculty- Prof. Oliver Moravčík, the Vice-Dean for Development - Prof. Jozef Peterka opened the event. The Scientific Committee of the conference was represented by Prof. Karol Balog. At present preparation for the next conference is taking place, it is to be held on the 28th – 30th November 2012 under the name of "European Conference on Logistics" - CECOL 2012. This event is prepared by the Institute of Production Systems and Applied Mechanics of the MTF. The staff of the Institute of Safety and Environmental Engineering, from the MTF STU visited, in late September 2012, the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the University Center in Zelena Hora and the centre of renewable energy sources of the Higher Vocational School in Sulechów in Poland. The delegation of the MTF was received by the Vice Rector - Julian Jakubowski, PhD. of the Higher Vocational School in Sulechów. In the following days the MTF representatives attended a professional seminar on "Safety and health assurance at work in Slovak and Polish Theory and Practic." Finally, possibilities were discussed about a student exchange within the program of ERASMUS and cooperation in solving international scientific projects. During the semestral period on the premises of the Faculty in Paulinska Street, monthly meetings take place on Thursdays - Dies Iovis Occurssus, these bring a space for the imparting of interesting information which is presented by experts from scientific, social and cultural life. In October, a meeting was held with the holder of the European award for cultural heritage called Europa Nostra, this was by PhDr. Jiri Langer, CSc. A valuable guest lectured on the topic of wooden churches in Central Europe as a crossroads of cultural history. Last Thursday's meeting was devoted to a female audience, as the lecture topic was based on cancer prevention in gynaecological surgery. Our guest lecturer was doc. MuDr. Julius Chramec, PhD., he is head of Gynaecology and Obstetrics clinic at the Faculty Hospital in Trnava. Another meeting will be with Mrs. Maria Bizubová which will be held on Thursday 08/11/2012, the topic will be Stone beauty of Slovakia.
