2. Success of the MTF STU
The beginning of the New Year 2013 and the end of the year 2012 was very successful for the MTF STU. Among important personalities of the Slovak Republic (SR), who were awarded by the Slovak Republic’s President – Ivan Gasparovic to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the SR’s creation, was the scientist and teacher from the MTF – Prof RNDr. Miroslav Urban, DrCs. He was awarded for his results in the sphere of theoretical chemistry, due to the development of university education in the SR. The award was “Rad Ludovita Stura II.triedy”. He is the holder of several important awards, e.g. “Statna cena za vedecku pracu v teoretickej chemii, Kristalove Kridlo”. He gained the most important results in theoretical chemistry and computer chemistry, in the development of methods and computer programs of quantum chemistry.
Ing Miroslave Trnka was awarded a state award called was “Rad Ludovita Stura II.triedy” for special his contribution to the development of information technologies and widely spreading the good name of the Slovak Republic abroad. He is a graduate of the MTF STU and graduated in 1995 together with Peter Paska who is the creator of the new version of the anti virus product called NOD32. He is the creator and general director of the ESET company and he gained the following awards: 2006 Entrepreneur of the year, personality of the year 2008 and in the year 2007 he was a prize winner of the Crystal Wing Award.
The end of the year 2012 was important for Prof Ing. Jozef Janovec, DrSc. Who gained the award “ Scientist of the Year, STU 2012” , he is a specialist in the research of materials and has contributed to the clarification of anomalies in kinetics by the segregation of phosphor on inner surface alloys on the basis of iron, widening of data bases of thermodynamic parameters for the characterization of segregation processes as well as the mapping of changes of carbidic phases in G-Mo-V steels, including the creation of thermal – time diagrams. In resent times he is working on the research of the Structure of complex phases in complex iron alloys on the base of aluminum or zinc. He is the author of seventy-four publications in current journals and in the VoS data base there are about three-hundred of his citations of his work.
3. New Associate Professors of the STU
The Rector of the STU- Robert Redhammer appointed the new Associate Professors of the STU on the 19th of December 2012, they are as follows:
- doc. Ing. Mikulas Bitter, PhD., from the Institute of Electrical Engineering, FEI STU, in the field of measuring techniques,
- doc. Ing. Boris Lakatos, PhD., from the Institute of Bio Chemistry Nutrition and Health Protection, FCHPT STU, in the field of Bio Chemistry,
- doc. Ing. Andrej Kolarovic, PhD., from the Institute of Organic Chemistry, Catalysis and Petrochemistry, FCHPT STU, in the field of Organic Chemistry,
- doc. Ing. Maximilian Stremy, PhD., from the Institute of Applied Informatics Automation and Mathematics, MTF STU, in the field of Automation.
The guest Professors at the STU – doc Ing. Stanislav Duris, PhD., from the Faculty of Civil Engineering STU and Ing. Ludovit Kupca, CSc., from the MTF STU were introduced to the Rector of the STU- R. Redhammer.
4. Professors of the year 2012
At the Christmas concert “Technik”, the Rector – Robert Redhammer, by proposals by the STU’s Faculty’s Deans, awarded the Best Professors of the Year 2012. The following were awarded:
- Prof. Ing. Dusan Petras,PhD., from the faculty of Civil Engineering,
- Prof. Ing. Miroslav Veres, CSc., from the faculty of Mechanical Engineering,
- Prof. Ing. Dusan Bakos, DrSc., from the faculty of Chemical and Food Technology,
- Prof. Ing. Arch. Robert Spacek, CSc., from the faculty of Architecture,
- Prof. Ing. Karol Velisek,CSc., from the faculty of Materials Science and Technology
5. International Conference of CECOL 2012 at the MTF
On the premises of the Faculty of Materials Science and Technology in Trnava, the third annual international scientific conference III Central European Conference On Logistics (CECOL 2012) took place. This event was organized by the Institute of Productional Systems and Applied Mechanics (UVSM). The conference was dedicated to the field of logistics and productional systems. The conference was ceremonially opened by the Dean of the MTF – Professor Dr Ing.Oliver Moravcik and the deputy director of UVSM- doc Ing. Peter Kostal, PhD. The previous conferences were held in Miskolc Hungary (2010) and Czestochowej in Poland (2011). This year’s conference was divided into a plenary part and several others.
The following speakers were in the plenary part: Dr. Ing. Elke Glistau from Otto- von-Guericke Univerzity Magdeberg, Institute of logistics and material handling systems, Germany; doc. Frantisek Manlig from the Technical university from Librec, Czech Republic, Prof. Janos Kundrak from the University of Miskolc, Hungary. The conference held 51 contributions from the following countries: BG, CZ, DE, FR, HU, IT, PL, RO, SK, TN.
Professional contributions will be published in the journal Applied Mechanics and Materials.
6. Awarding of the best presentation.
During Science and Technology Week 2012, from the 7th-11th November 2012, in Bratislava in Inchebe, a presentation of the results from the activities of the Centre of Excellency research took place. The event was organized by the Ministry of Education in cooperation with the National centre for the popularization of science and technology in society. This was ceremonially opened on the 8th of November 2012 in the presence of the Minister of Education, science, research and sport SR Dusan Caplovic. The aim of the event was a presentation of results and practical applications of the Centres of Excellency. The MTF STU from Trnava was represented in two booths, one contained a representation of the Centre of Excellency of 5 axis machining and the second contained a representation of the Centre for Development and application of progressive diagnostic methods in processing materials.
During this event an evaluation of the Centres of Excellency took place, the MTF STU gained the highest award- “Award and diploma for the best presentation of activities of the Centres of Excellency in the year 2012”. The booths welcomed the arrival of the Minister of Education- Dusan Caplovic and the State Secretary of the Minster- Stefan Chudoba.
