Starting from Monday 9 March 2020 to Saturday 21 March 2020 (including) the full-time as well as part-time teaching at STU is interrupted. Students staying at hostels are strongly recommended to leave and go home during the interruption of teaching.
Common statement of STU and UK Rectors:
Regarding the news of Coronavirus disease COVID-19 spread and the epidemic peak of influenza, the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava and Comenius University in Bratislava agreed to accept preventive measures to avoid the disease spread.
Since STU and UK are the largest universities with more than 30 thousand students and operate the largest student city in Mlynská dolina, we consider the situation particularly seriously as we feel responsibility for the health and security of our students and employees. The measures have been accepted by the Crisis Staff at which also the Main Epidemiology expert from the Ministry of Health participated and the situation has also been consulted with the Main Hygiene Officer of the Slovak Republic.
Starting from Monday 9 March 2020 to Saturday 21 March 2020 (including) the full-time as well as part-time teaching is interrupted. The pedagogical process will be executed in the form of self-study or via other suitable form.
The details will be specified by the Deans of the Faculties and authorised persons. All pedagogical employees are asked to provide the students with all necessary information and materials so that the students could study individually during the teaching interruption.
Following the consultations with the public authorities and regarding the decision of the Crisis Staff, the students staying at hostels are strongly recommended by the Rectors of both universities to leave and go home during the interruption of teaching. We also draw attention to the fact that in case of disease occurrence at the hostel, the students are subject to quarantine regime. In case that up to 11 March 2020 an above critical number of students does not leave the hostels, the Rectors might be forced to execute the hostels closure.
Regarding the Rectors orders, the Deans of the Faculties and Directors of other university parts will state the work regime/duties of individual employees to protect their health. At the same time, all meetings of regulatory academic bodies are cancelled, such as Scientific Boards, Academic Senates as well as other mass gatherings within the premises of both universities.
Students, please, pay attention to your e-mail boxes and follow the university web sites. The situation is constantly being monitored and you will be continuously informed of any other news.
