On the 7th and 9th of September
2009 the first season for high school students called Summer University
took place. It was organized by the Slovak
Technical University.
The aim of the event was to offer the opportunity to secondary school students
to learn more about life at university, university research, studies, college
life, and participation in various competitions and to also meet new friends.
For three days students visited various faculties at the STU, where programs of interesting lectures and discussions etc, took place...
The MTF STU had the opportunity to hear a lecture entitled "Structure of metallic materials, a different view." from the Assocociate Professor Ing. Lubomir Čaplovič, PhD from the Institute of Materials. After this lecture followed an inspection of the laboratories and workshops in the Institute of Production Technologies and Materials Institute under the supervision of Associated Professor Ing. Marônek Milan, PhD, and Associated Professor Ing. Kusý Martin, PhD. During the inspection of the solar laboratory and Botanic Gardens students were guided by Ing. Michalíková Anna, PhD. and Mgr. Sirotiak Maros from the Institute of Safety and Environmental Engineering, and finally the students were guided through the sports area of the MTF by Associate Professor Mgr. Marian Meric, PhD from the Institute of Engineering Pedagogy and Humanity science. During the three days the high school students were accompanied by the students from each of the STU faculties who exhaustively answered questions about student responsibility and student life. Michael Ondruška and Bc. Zdenko Guniš from the MTF STU were selected as guides for the students.
