On the 11.10.2009, the FMST SUT in Trnava in
cooperation with the City of Trnava, Autonomous Region (TTSK) organized a 35th
anniversary season of the Carpathian marathon and part o fit was the 17th
season of the academic Championship in SR. The race took place under the auspices
of the Dean from the FMST SUT Prof. DR. Ing. Oliver Moravcik and the Mayor of
Trnava, Ing. Stefan Bosnak.
54 brave athletes participated in this hard discipline. The start and finish
was in front of M. Uher student
house and the 42 kilometre long track led from Trnava through Horné Orešany,
Smolenice, Lošonec , Dolné Orešany, Suchú nad parnou and back to Trnava.
Despite the bad weather the quality of the race and the winning time of Peter Tichý from SKP Cadca ( 2:39:02 ) was the best reward for the team of organizers, KTVŠ UIPH FMST SUT workers and members of TJ STU Trnava. The Academic Champion of Slovak Republic in the marathon became Andrej Veselovsky from PF UMB Banská Bystrica with a time of 2:49:48 who finished in 4th overall and confirmed the victory of the previous two years. The most successful runner from the women's category became Zuzana Pribulová with a time of 3:50:56 .
In the 35 year history of the race, the organizers from KTVŠ UIPH FMST SUT Trnava registered 7133 participants for the Carpathian marathon. The experience from previous years created a great atmosphere for the runners and all who were involved. Special thanks belong to leadership of the FMST SUT, Board of Trnava, TTSK, and all those who organized and sponsored this wonderful sporting event.
