The reaction of the Dean from MTF STU about this article :
Ladies and Gentlemen,
The published information is incomplete, misleading and at least unethical. I would like your contribution with additional information so that there is a reasonable view of our "under privileged fault" regarding the softball players which are, incidentally just girls and young ladies. For 20 years we had visitors in our area, as well as other sections of the STU sports centre who did not have any contracts but only made a payment of one crown. During the hard competition for building excellence the facultys‘ departments received two projects of excellence (only one other faculty has been able to obtain this in Slovakia). Why should this faculty renounce the possibility of building a new facility funded under the Structural Funds?
The sports centre at the STU is a separate legal entity which has by our agreement the same name, "STU". The 5 sections of this sports centre contain more than 5000 students and out of these there are only 10 members. Mr. Baranovič said something which is not true, he said that in his softball department there are 300 members. According to data from the Internet approximately only 120 registered softball players exist. Another interesting fact to be noted is that we are the only university in slovakia that schedules mandatory physical education for all students at our faculty plus there are sports courts open to the students and staff and the general public. These courts and the sports equipment are solely financed by our faculty, which has been the case for many years.
The board of the softball section was informed five months before comencement of the new centre that the accusations against our faculty are not true.the faculty asked for help from the representatives of the city regarding the softball section of land adjacent to the school, which is the responsibility of the town of Trnava. I consider the entire media in print and electronic format unfair and addressed to the incorrect recipient. In the past the faculty allowed the develop of sports playgrounds upon it's spare land so that children can utilize their time in a more possitive manner, as opposed to sitting in pubs taking drugs. Due to the fact that in the past we were responsible for the wellbeing of our own facilities should not lead one into thinking that it will last forever.
Yours sincerely,
Moravcik Oliver
