On 17 December 2025, Dr. h. c. Ing. Anton Uhnák, Glocal Vice-President for Industry–University Cooperation at Sun Moon University in the Republic of Korea (GICO – Glocal Industry–University Cooperation Office in Bratislava) and Chairman of the Czech–Korean Committee at the Chamber of Commerce of the Czech Republic, visited the Faculty of Materials Science and Technology (MTF) STU in Trnava.
Dr. h. c. Ing. Anton Uhnák has made significant contributions to the development of university–industry cooperation, including between Slovakia and the Republic of Korea. In the 1990s of the 20th century, he studied in the Republic of Korea, later facilitated business contacts between the two countries for over ten years, and in 2013 founded the Korean Academy at the College of Business in Prague (KORAK).
The purpose of his visit to MTF STU was to evaluate and analyze the results of the official STU delegation to the Republic of Korea, which took place from 8 to 16 November 2025, and to discuss possible directions for further cooperation with the Korean universities visited during this delegation.
Apart from Dr. h. c. Ing. Anton Uhnák, the working meeting was attended by Ing. Katarína Krekulová from the Department of International Relations of STU, Ing. Libor Ďuriška, PhD., Vice-Dean of MTF STU for Strategic Projects and Mobility, prof. Ing. Peter Šugár, CSc., Vice-Dean of MTF STU for Science and Research, and doc. Ing. Ladislav Morovič, PhD., Vice-Director for Foreign and Internal Relations at Institute of Production Technologies MTF STU.
During the meeting, participants reflected on both the professional and organizational aspects of the delegation and identified new opportunities to deepen cooperation with partners in the Republic of Korea, particularly in the fields of materials research, new manufacturing technologies, and university–industry collaboration. The discussion produced specific recommendations for future joint projects and activities, which could expand the international presence of MTF STU and support student and staff mobility.
Dr. h. c. Ing. Anton Uhnák’s visit to MTF STU confirmed the importance of maintaining an active dialogue with international partners and strengthened the faculty’s strategic link with the global academic and industrial environment.
