On January 16, 2026, the Faculty of Materials Science and Technology of the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava (MTF STU) welcomed distinguished representatives of the Estonian academic community from Tallinn University of Technology.
A working visit was held at the faculty with the participation of the Dean of the School of Engineering, Assoc. Prof. Fjodor Sergejev, and Prof. Alar Konist, Head of the Department of Energy Technology. The guests were welcomed at the Institute of Materials Science by Assoc. Prof. Ing. Roman Moravčík, PhD., Director of the Institute, Ing. Libor Ďuriška, PhD., Vice-Dean of MTF STU for Strategic Projects and Mobility, and Ing. Martin Sahul, PhD.
As part of the program, opportunities for academic and scientific research collaboration were presented. The discussion focused primarily on additive manufacturing and materials characterization using advanced analytical techniques, which represent promising directions for future joint research.
The visit also included a tour of the laboratories of the Institute of Materials Science, guided by Ing. Martin Sahul, PhD. and Ing. Marián Drienovský, PhD. Subsequently, the guests visited the Centre of Excellence for 5-axis Machining, where they were welcomed by the Director of the Institute of Manufacturing Technologies, Assoc. Prof. Ing. Ivan Buranský, PhD., who presented the possibilities of 3D printing and modern manufacturing technologies. The program was further enriched by expert demonstrations in welding, additive manufacturing, and machining, presented by Ing. Marián Pavlík, PhD, and Ing. Tomáš Vopát, PhD.
The professional meetings led to the identification of specific areas for future cooperation, particularly in joint research projects and exchange mobility schemes. Such activities serve as an important tool for developing the faculty’s international cooperation, facilitate the sharing of know-how, and create new opportunities for students and staff to participate in international academic and research initiatives.
