Brief history of the League Against Cancer:
The League Against Cancer was established on the 19th of January, 1990 in Bratislava, and in the same year it was accepted as a member of European Association of Cancer Leagues (ECL) and a member of the Union of International Cancer Control in Geneva. It is registered as an independent charitable non-profit organization in the Slovak Republic according to the law No. 83/1990 Statute about civil associations. The civil association continues to work after splitting of the Czechoslovak Federal Republic under the name of the League Against Cancer of the Slovak Republic (LPR SR). The membership in ECL and UICC was uninterrupted. It cooperates with 40 organizations from 28 European states, with members of the ECL, and other institutions on the international level.
