On Friday 27th September 2013, the 9th year of the European-wide annual Festival of Science - Noc výskumníkov was held. This was for the sixth time this year in Slovakia, in the following places: Bratislava, Banska Bystrica , Košiciace, Žilina and Tatranska Lomnica.
During the mentioned events, there was the possibility to meet leading Slovak scientists and be a co-part of prepared experiments within various fields of science- from social to technical and medical fields. The stalls revealing "little miracles of science" attracted more than 10,000 visitors.
The MTF STU in Trnava was represented by a team from the Department of Industrial Engineering, Management and Quality ( UPMK ). The team from UPMK presented themselves by use of a booth called "Think simple and creatively – Be no. 1 ", they performed the concept of " Standardization of the workplace – learning by playing." The activities that were offered by UPMK attracted hundreds of visitors of all age groups ( 3 - 60 years ). The concept of teaching- standardization of the workplace by play, involved a few simple games ( Puzzle , Alphabet , Lego , missing number, t-shirt ). The event provided an opportunity for the public to ascertain the importance of standardization and to determine optimal flow in the workplace , the power of visualization , as well as to verify the appropriateness and effectiveness of different types of standards ( verbal and pictorial descriptions ) whilst assembling Lego constructions. Towards the end, the public took an interest in the game " T-shirts " , which served to realize that even the best standards can be improved.
Many thanks to all participants who supported the science festival "Noc výskumníkov 2013" and those that represented our faculty.
