Competences
The graduate of doctoral study program has the following knowledge:
- is capable to plan his education as well as the training of members of his research team, organize its work and independently acquire new knowledge through self-study (even with the use of foreign language literature), and lead other team members to do
- to further develop and apply the obtained knowledge in a more particular professional focus, within the framework of advanced mechanical and materials engineering
- is independent in the design, solution and evaluation of complex scientific research projects, and is capable to coordinate these tasks
- is capable to comprehensively implement, objectively evaluate and formulate the obtained research results of a given scientific-research task, including their international presentation or implementation, even with regard to their intellectual protection
- is capable to use modern methods and tools for statistical data analysis, simulation and optimization of production systems, evaluation of economic and environmental sustainability of industrial products and technologies.
APPLICATION OF THE GRADUATE
Indication of occupation
The graduate of the study programme has a combination of knowledge from materials engineering, engineering technologies and resource management field. It guarantees an interesting and highly sought-after profile of graduates who can find employment in a wide range of industrial companies, especially in leading positions in technical and production departments.
Within the acquired key competencies the graduate is capable to further develop and apply the acquired knowledge not only in the classical production and materials engineering but also in modern areas focused to intelligent industrial systems within the trend "Industry 4.0",
The graduate is capable to comprehensively solve, objectively evaluate and formulate the obtained results of the given scientific research task. He is capable to present these results, even on an international forum. Also, he can solve the research and development problems with respect to the economic and environmental sustainability of the emerging industrial products and technologies. Graduates equipped in this way have employment, for example, in industrial research and development, in the design and implementation of new technologies, in academia of sciences and in other institutions dealing with science, research, development and innovation within a domestic or international scale.
Occupation indication:
Graduates of the study program progressive materials and material design can apply as:
Heads of technical and production departments in manufacturing companies, workers and leaders in research and development centres, scientists in the Academy of Sciences, teachers - assistant professors with the assumption of later habilitation in the university sphere.
Relevant stakeholders: the study programme is not a case of a regulated profession.
