Material Sciences and Engineering
Graduate profile
Graduates of the doctoral study programme are capable to comprehensively carry out research, development, and subsequent implementation of the acquired knowledge into industry, especially in the areas of materials engineering, related mechanical engineering technologies, and industrial systems management. At the same time, they are able to independently respond to current market needs in areas focused on the development of new and innovative types of materials and their processing.
EDUCATIONAL GOALS
Knowledge:
Graduate of doctoral studies has:
- theoretical knowledge on phase transformations and their use in the design of materials and their processing technologies,
- practical knowledge on the application of experimental and diagnostic methods,
- practical knowledge of semi-industrial and laboratory equipment
- theoretical and practical knowledge in the field of mathematics and physics, enabling his independent scientific and research activity
Skills:
Graduate:
- is capable to independently analyze scientific literature and draw their own critical conclusions from it,
- is capable to propose their own solutions to scientific research tasks, and to propose experimental procedures, to verify their results and propose corrections to experimental programs,
- is capable to independently work on diagnostic devices and equipment intended for materials research and development,
- is capable to independently prepare research reports and present the results on a given issue, in at least one world language,
- has sufficient management skills to lead creative teams
Competences
The Graduate is characterized by:
- is capable to plan his own education and the education of members of his scientific and research team, - organize his work and independently acquire knowledge through self-study and lead other team members to do so,
- is capable to develop and apply the acquired knowledge in a narrower professional focus in his field of research
- is capable to independently design, implement and evaluate scientific and research projects, and is able to coordinate these matters
