FESTIVAL OF SCIENCE 25th – 26th APRIL 2014
On 25th – 26th April 2014 at the Faculty of Materials Science and Technology in Trnava, the Festival of Science will be held, with support of the City of Trnava. The Festival is a key part of the project „Festival of Science as a Platform for Intensifying Cooperation between V4 Region Universities“ funded by the Visegrad Fund.
In the preparation of the project under the guidance of Assoc. Prof. MA. Dagmar Cagáňová, PhD. and MSc. Vanesa Prajová, PhD. are involved employees, graduates and students of the Institute of Industrial Engineering and Management in cooperation with the Department of knowledge management led by PhDr. Kvetoslava Rešetová, PhD. Guarantors of the event are prof. MSc. Miloš Čambál, CSc. and Assoc.Prof MSc. Jana Šujanová, CSc. IT support of the festival is provided by MSc. Marek Vyskoč, a former student of MTF STU, now an employee of Orange Slovakia, a.s.
The main project feature is to establish a basis for active V4 scientific cooperation using best practice exchange and knowledge transfer. It is an opportunity for linking academic and business institutions from V4 countries that will ensure collaboration in research, education and increased international mobility of university teachers and students, as well as in science, research and education.
The two-day Festival is free to attend and is the first of a series of professional events to be held in Slovakia. The Festival aims to provide a platform which brings together researchers, business professionals, scientists and students from across Europe. The event will provide a collaborative environment to foster cooperation, to raise awareness of the latest trends in innovation and to inspire students and school children to become interested in green and social innovation.
The 2014 Festival of Science is organised following the official creation of the European Alliance for Innovation regional office in Slovakia, a cooperation between MTF STU, the European Alliance for Innovation, based in Trento, Italy and the European Alliance for Innovation, based in Brussels.
On Friday 25th April, the Festival will be held at MTF STU, on Paulínska Street, Trnava. The panel discussions will focus on the themes of innovation and international projects Horizon 2020. Members of discussions will be representatives of domestic and foreign ministries, universities and research centres as well as members of the European Commission.
On Saturday 26th April, the Festival will move to Trinity Square, Trnava, where visitors will be able to actively participate in solving practical, scientific and technical challenges, and also will be able to enjoy recitation, singing and dance performances by kindergarten children, elementary and secondary school students. Students of Institute of the Industrial Engineering and Management will contribute to the festival with the "MTF becomes Green" initiative aimed at ensuring that the material conditions for the implementation of separate trash collection at student dormitories. In the premises of their booth the visitors will be able to make their own different utilities from PET bottles or paper cartons; the aim is to produce as many products as possible.
The event will also hold fencing demonstrations presented by HECTOR Agency and VINEDI group, which will feature archery. The musical experience will be provided CANTICA NOVA choir.
