02.12.2013 VW Slovakia presentation at the MTF STU
On the 21st November 2013, a presentation of Volkswagen Slovakia took place at the MTF STU. This offered last year students the potential of employment in the automotive industry. The head of Manufacturing Technology - Ing. T. Palaščin gave an engaging presentation entitled “Manufacturing flow at Volkswagen Slovakia”. Mrs. Mgr. Petruláková presented options and areas where the company can offer students trainee programs and internships leading up to the elaboration of theses.
02.12.2013 Excursion to Kia Motors Slovakia
On Wednesday the 20th November 2013, students went on an excursion to the Institute of Industrial Engineering and Management at Kia Motors Slovakia Zilina. The students became familiar with the logistic processes accompanying the production of Kia (Kia cee'd, cee'd_sw, pro_cee'd, Sportage and Venga), they visited the welding and assembly floors, plus they had the opportunity to see a product finalised - from skeleton to the finished car.
02.12.2013 The President of the Slovak Republic appointed new professors
The following new professors from the STU were appointed by the President on Tuesday 26th November: Prof. Ing. Pavel Alexy, PhD. in the field of Macromolecular Substances Technology (Faculty of Chemical and Food Technology STU), Prof. Ing. Miloš Čambál, CSc. in the field of Industrial Engineering (Materials Science and technology STU in Trnava), Prof. Ing. Pavol Švec, CSc. in the field of Engineering Technology and Materials (Faculty of Mechanical Engineering STU), Prof. Ing. Stanislav Unčík, PhD. in the field of Construction, (Faculty of Civil Engineering STU).
02.12.2013 Lecture by doc. Rosina from Matador Holding a.s.
On the 27th November 2013 on the premises of the Čabelka lecture hall at the MTF STU, a lecture by doc. Ing . Štefan Rosina, PhD. - Chairman of Matador Holding a.s. took place. The lecture was held in collaboration with Junior Chamber International - Slovakia in the series "The idea turned into a success." Doc. Rosina presented the lecture called "Matador - innovative company". Due to his many years of practical experience, the lecture was very interesting. Afterward, students of the faculty were offered the opportunity to participate in practice within the following two areas.
16.12.2013 Excursion to Volkswagen Slovakia
On the 4th December 2013 an excursion to Volkswagen Slovakia was held for students and staff of UPIM , where they were introduced to the concept of production cars that are made on the Bratislava production line. Namely the Volkswagen Touareg, Audi Q7, Volkswagen up!, Skoda Citigo and SEAT Mii. The participants visited the weld and assembly hall in the production series New Small Family, saw units and modules entering the production process and visited the training centre for logistics, where they saw how employees are prepared to work on the assembly as logisticians.
16.12.2013 The Academic Senate held a meeting with the academic community
On the 4th of December 2013, in the auditorium of Prof. Čabelka, a meeting of members from the MTF STU Academic Senate (AS) with members from the MTF STU academic community took place. The Chairman of the MTF STU AS - Prof. Čambál at the beginning welcomed all the participants and informed them of the reasons for calling the meeting and its agenda. The key points were the presentations of reports on the activities of the MTF STU AS in 2012 (from the Law Act about Higher Education, regarding the duty of the faculty’s AS, which has to report once a year to the faculty’s academic community about its activities). A discussion followed about current issues of the MTF STU and a plan of AS MTF STU’s activities for the following period.
16.12.2013 Staff training for the automated testing of students
On the 5th of December 2013 in room T – 23 on Bottova Street, pavilion T, staff training about the automated testing of students took place. Training is a part of the project “Implementation of an internal quality assurance system in education”, ITMS code 26110230042 on the basis of the Operational Programme Education funded by the European Social Fund.

On the 5th of December 2013 Dies iovis occurssus (XXXV) was lectured by PhDr. Milan Vároš about the sad fate of works of art that have permanently left Slovakia.

05.11.2013 The first PhD. forum was held
On the 24th and 25th October 2013, the Faculty of Materials Science and Technology in Trnava of the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava held the first national conference of PhD students, this was organized by the Slovak Association of PhD. students in cooperation with the Slovak University of Technology in Bratislava.
27.11.2013 MTF at the European educational fair GAUDEAMUS 2013 in Brno
During the 5th – 8th November 2013, the 20th year of the European fair of post-secondary and lifelong learning education -GAUDEAMUS 2013 took place in Brno. The fair ran consecutively with the Sport Life fair in two pavilions G1 and G2. The fair is an important source of information to all participants about studying after graduating from secondary school.
27.11.2013 Dies iovis Occurssus (XXXIV) took place
Dies iovis occurssus (XXXIV) took place on the 7th November 2013. The main analyst of ARRA -Miroslav Medved, MA, MSc. gave a presentation about the current theme of universities’ Ranking - motivation, opportunities and trends. The forthcoming accreditation of higher education has been an extensive debate.
27.11.2013 A ceremonial matriculation of 1st year students - 2013/2014 was held
On the 13th November 2013 in the auditorium of Prof. Čabelka, the academic matriculation ceremony took place - the ceremony accepted enrolled students in their first year of undergraduate study at the MTF STU in Trnava, Dubnica nad Vahom and Kománo. The following academic officials were present: Matriculation Officer doc.RNDr. Maria Mišútova, PhD. and Vice-Deans doc. Ing. Helena Vidova, PhD. and Prof. Dr. Ing. Jozef Peterka, representing the Dean of the faculty spektability. h. c. Prof. Dr. Ing. Oliver Moravcik - students received matriculation certificates and took a "Matriculation student Oath" on the insignia of the MTF - sceptre of the faculty.
27.11.2013 Discussions with practice VIII took place
On the 28th October 2013, the MTF STU in Trnava held another lecture from the series “Discussions with practice” on the topic “Project Manager WANTED! (What is the job of the project manager about?)”. The lecturers were Silvia Drahošová and Jana Hurtová from SPPR ® (Project Management Association ®).

21.10.2013 Discussions with practice VII took place
On the 30th September 2013 at the Faculty of Materials Science Technology STU in Trnava, another lecture from the series “Discussions with practice” took place. The lecturer was Ing . Juraj Janáč, graduate of the Faculty of Materials Science and Technology STU in Trnava and currently head of logistics at Volkswagen Slovakia , a.s. The topic of the lecture was "Modern elements of logistics applied in the automotive industry in Slovakia". The lecture consisted of some interesting parts. Ing . Juraj Janáč introduced the automotive industry and its production in Slovakia. He pointed out very interesting numbers, important indicators, and a map of the company’s factory. A very interesting part was the structure of the logistics system in society where the public can learn about the planning and management of production, pre-production and operational logistics. Finally lecturer Ing . Juraj Janáč pointed to opportunities offered to students, especially about possibilities regarding personal development at Volkswagen Slovakia, a.s., for example, through the program " Trainee ".
21.10.2013 Researchers' Night 2013
On Friday 27th September 2013, the 9th year of the European-wide annual Festival of Science - Noc výskumníkov was held. This was for the sixth time this year in Slovakia, in the following places: Bratislava, Banska Bystrica , Košiciace, Žilina and Tatranska Lomnica. During the mentioned events, there was the possibility to meet leading Slovak scientists and be a co-part of prepared experiments within various fields of science- from social to technical and medical fields. The stalls revealing "little miracles of science" attracted more than 10,000 visitors.
21.10.2013 Presentation: Trends in Electro - Pneumatic automation was successful
On the 14th October 2013, in the MTF STU premises, before the Assembly Hall on Bottova Street, a presentation of the company FESTO on "Trends in electro - tire for automation" took place. The target group were mainly workers and students whose focus is in automation. Festo specialists brought a demonstrating vehicle "Miniexpotainer" in which several functional panels presented the latest trends in automation from electric drives and sensors through the automation of process technology and the decentralized peripherals to diagnostics and energy savings, were presented.

03.09.2013 Another successful annual Summer University took place for high school students
On Tuesday 3rd September 2013 at our faculty, the fifth annual whole university event -Summer University of high school students took place. Fifty-one students from all over Slovakia attended it. Graduates of this event (future ambassadors), based on the information presented, gained an overview of study at our faculty.
06.09.2013 Enrolments of new students for all levels of study took place in the academic year 2013/2014
On the 23rd August 2013, the Faculty of Materials Science and Technology welcomed the newly admitted students who enrolled in their first year of doctoral studies. On behalf of the management of the faculty, the Vice- Dean -doc. Ing. Peter Schreiber, CSc., welcomed the new students.
18.09.2013 The fifth conference of MTF STU teachers
On the 19thSeptember 2013 at 8:30 am. in the auditorium of Prof. Čabelka in Z pavilion, the fifth conference of MTF STU teachers will take place. The MTF STU teachers, management of the faculty, heads of departments and members of the students’ part of the Academic Senate of the faculty will be present.

On the 16th September 2013, the Dean - Dr.h.c. Prof. Dr. Ing. Oliver Moravčík met with a crowded auditorium of students that will complete their Introduction to higher education.
30.09.2013 The 20th international scientific conference - FORMING 2013 took place
On the 11th – 14th September 2013, the 20th international scientific conference – FORMING 2013 was organized by the Department of machining, assembly and moulding, UVTE, MTF STU. 58 participants attended the conference from four countries (Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia and Kazakhstan). The universities that took part were: VŠB TU Ostrava, Politechnika Śląska Katowice, Politechnika Śląska Gliwice, Politechnika Czestochowska, Akademia Górniczo-Hutnicza University of Science and Technology Kraków, Uniwersytet Śląski Chorzów, Politechnika Lubelska, Politechnika Wroclawska, Karaganda state Industrial University Temirtau, TU Košice a STU Bratislava.
30.09.2013 The 5th conference of the MTF STU’s teachers took place
On the 19th September 2013 in the auditorium of Prof. Čabelka, in Z pavilion, the 5th conference of the MTF STU’s teachers took place. At the start, the Dean welcomed the teachers, heads of departments and students from the AS MTF. Presentations were given by doc. Mišútová "Changes in STU study procedures valid from 1.9.2013", doc. Schreiber presented the "successfulness of study at the MTF STU", "The results of the student surveys for the academic year 2012/13" and "Complex accreditation". The presentation of doc.Schreiber was accompanied by Prof. Grgac’s information on the procedure for accreditation in the field of scientific research.
30.09.2013 The results of the “MTF STU’s employees Sport Day”
On the 20th September 2013, in the sports premises of our faculty, the “MTF STU’s employees Sport Day” took place. The sports day had ten disciplines, which actively involved 85 employees of our faculty. In addition to the competitive activities, the majority of participants were involved in measuring their own functional and physical health readings - blood pressure, heart rate and the measurement of subcutaneous fat. Many participants took part in a Pilates workout, they had a traditional massage and used the opportunity to swim during the sports day.

03.06.2013 Opening of the former Botanical Garden of the MTF STU
On Friday 24th May 2013 the ceremonial opening of the former Botanical Garden of the MTF STU in Trnava took place. This was a culmination of revitalized activities undertaken since 2006. During the seven years of revitalization, the MTF received almost 42 500, - Euros, mainly in machinery and planting. The revitalization of the garden received financially grants from the following organizations of Trnava: Nadácia Trnava Trnavčanom, Ekopolis, Nadácia SLSP, Nadácia VÚB, Nadácia Holcim (Slovensko) a.s., Ministerstvo životného prostredia Slovenskej republiky, Environmentálny fond a Nadácia SPP spoločne s nadáciou Ekofond cez program SPPoločne pre verejnosť. Restoration work was carried out by volunteers who worked in the garden for more than 5,000 man-hours without pay. Many thanks to everyone who contributed to this. More than 80 visitors attended the opening ceremony, the initial reactions to "our garden" have been very positive. Faculty of Materials Science STU in Trnava held the 6th lecture of the series "Interviews with practice II" on 27 May 2013. The lecturer was Eng. Milan Sestak, the General Manager Emerson, a.s. in Nove Mesto nad Vahom and President of the Slovak Society for Quality.

06.05.2013 Colloquium of Prof. Zitnansky
On the 22nd April 2013 in Bratislava at the premises of the Institute of Materials and Machine Mechanics of the SAV, a Colloquium was held on the occasion of the 80th birthday of Prof. Dr. Ing. Marcel Zitnansky, DrSc., Professor emeritus of the STU. The event was co-organized by the MTF STU, it was attended by several distinguished guests from Slovakia and abroad, including the Rector of the STU Prof. Ing. Robert Redhammer, PhD. A laudation was presented at the colloquium as well as two special lectures and several greeting speeches in which the presenters portrayed appreciation whilst celebrating his life's work and his significant contribution to the development of casting technology and the development of progressive materials in Slovakia.
06.05.2013 Meeting of management and senior employees with former employees of the MTF STU
On the 25th April 2013 on the premises of the faculty, a meeting between management and senior faculty members and its former employees took place. The Dean of the MTF STU h.c. Prof. Dr. Ing. Oliver Moravčík whilst accompanied by the Vice-Dean doc. Ing. Helena Vidová, PhD., gave a welcoming speech. The whole course of the meeting had a pleasant and friendly atmosphere accompanied by a cultural performance and a tour of the Botanical Garden lead by Ing. Christine Gerulová, PhD. and Mgr. Maroš Sirotiak, PhD. All participants were satisfied and gave positive feedback which was expressed by doc. Ing. Eva Doubková, CSc.
06.05.2013 International Engineering Fair Nitra
On the 21st-24th May 2013, the exhibition TECHFÓRUM 2013 will be held as a part of the 20th International Engineering Fair in Nitra. The aim of the exhibition is to present the outcomes of research and development departments of faculties colleges, universities, technical orientated and their moves towards practice. Patronage of the event will be given by the Minister of Education, Science, Research and Sport - Mr Dušan Čaplovič.
22.05.2013 Ceremonial start of construction of the University science park
On the 17th May 2013, on the premises of the Faculty of Materials Science and Technology STU in Trnava, the ceremonial start of construction of the University science park in Trnava took place. This major event was attended by distinguished guests from domestic and foreign academic, economic and social life.
24.05.2013 International Doctoral Seminar 2013 finished
The 8th International Doctoral Seminar (IDS), organised by the Faculty of Materials Science and Technology with the seat in Trnava, the Slovak University of Technology, was for the first time co-organised with a foreign University, the Faculty of Organisation and Informatics, Varaždin, University of Zagreb, Croatia. The Seminar venue was the Centre for Advanced Academic Studies in Dubrovnik, Croatia.

24.04.2013 17th ESAB seminar
On the 9th April 2013 the 17th traditional, professional ESAB seminar was organized in collaboration with the Faculty of Materials Science and Technology STU in Trnava and ESAB Slovakia, sro. The seminar was focused on the issues of welding and weldability. It was attended by approximately160 experts from the field of welding. Apart from getting interesting information during the lectures the participants had the opportunity to view new welding equipment from the ESAB company.
24.04.2013 The presentation INA SKALICA took place
On the 11th April 2013, a presentation - INA SKALICA took place. The purpose of this event was to present company job offers to students in their last year of study. Students welcomed this opportunity and expressed their interest in specific jobs.
24.04.2013 Negotiations with a foreign partner - SKKU, Korea
On the 15th April 2013, at the MTF STU, in the Institute of Applied Informatics, Automation and Mathematics, a meeting with representatives of the faculty was held with Prof. E. BABULAK, D.Sc., Ph.D., FRSA, FBCS. Prof. Babulak is responsible for foreign affairs at the College of Information and Communication Engineering SUNG KYUN KWAN UNIVERSITY (SKKU), Suwon, Korea. The MTF was represented by the Vice-Dean doc. Ing. Schreiber, CSc., Director of UIAM doc. Ing. Tanuška, PhD., doc. Vrábeľ and doc. Božek.
24.04.2013 MTF STU Day
The MTF STU traditionally combines the celebration of Teachers' Day with MTF STU Day, as done this year on the12th April 2013. The Vice-Dean for Internal Affairs doc Ing. Helena Vidova, PhD. welcomed everyone. In the morning we started with the following quote “In a healthy body is a healthy spirit”. Those that came for morning exercises of Pilates were not disappointed. After the warm up exercises there were refreshments of coffee tea and chocolate. A new lime tree was planted by the Dean of the faculty Dr.h.c. Prof. Dr. Ing. Oliver Moravčík. A cultural performance by Tranavska tulave divadlo, directed by Jakub Nvota with an untraditional Hamlet play. On behalf of the MTF STU Day, the Dean of the faculty praised the following people for their contributions to the development of the detached workplaces, from Dubnica n./Vahom: Ing. Bohumil Zlocha, Ing. Milan Gašparík and Milan Svorada and from Komarno: Ing. Béla Szabó, Ing. Ján Vetter and Ing. Jozef Magyarics. The previously mentioned received award s from the STU’s Rector: a comemorial leaf from the tree of knowledge.
30.04.2013 The Dean meets with ambassadors of the Faculty
On the 25th April 2013 student ambassadors were introduced to the Dean Dr. h.c. Prof. Dr. Ing. Oliver Moravčík by the Vice Dean for Batchelor study doc. RNDr. Maria Mišútova, PhD. in the presence of the Head of the study department - Mgr. Renáta Ivančíková. The Dean thanked those present for the preparation of this event and expressed his satisfaction with the high participation of students that attended the project “Ambassador 2013”. The meeting ended with a discussion and the sharing of experiences gained during the activities of the project.

05.03.2013 Open day at the Detached Workplace (DP) in Komarno
On the 20th of February at the Detached Workplace (DP) in Komarno, a promotional event "Open Day" took place. This was for high school students and those interested in higher education in the region of Komarno. It was prepared by a team of DP workers led by Ing. Peter Szabo, PhD. The event was honoured by the presence of the Vice-Dean of the Faculty - doc. Ing. Helena Vidova, PhD., as well as Prof. Ing. Jozef Sáblík, CSc.
12.03.2013 A presentation of VW Slovakia was held
On the 27th February 2013 at the MTF STU a lecture took place by representatives of the Volkswagen Slovakia Company, its aim was to present the company and business opportunities in VW Slovakia to students taking their finals. The lecture was presented by Dip.-Ing. Frank Werz, MBA - Head of the department of chassis preparation C-SUV Lean and further information was mediated by Mgr. Ďubjaková from the department of personnel development.
15.03.2013 Reopening the weight-training gym at the MTF
On the12th March 2013 at 1:00 pm the MTF’s weight training gym was reopened after renovation and the addition of new equipment.

01.02.2013 Meeting of the STU´s Sports Council
On the 25th of January 2013, on the premises of the Faculty of Materials Science and Technology in Trnava, the first Sports Council meeting of the STU was chaired by the Vice Rector - Prof. Ing. Milan Sokol, PhD. The STU Sports Council is an advisory body to the Rector of the STU and does the following: supports the development of physical education and sport as an integral part of education at the STU, coordinates mass-recreational sports of students and staff at the STU, compiles sporting schedules of the STU and coordinates the organization of sporting events, proposes STU budget management by promoting sport organized under the auspices of the STU, supports the development of research activities in the field of sport’s sciences and applied research of professional work places of the STU focusing on physical education and sport, promotes a sports movement and the STU provides public information about it.
22.02.2013 The report of the "Week of doctoral students" 2013
On the 4th – 6th of February 2013, on the premises of the MTF STU in Trnava, the second annual event was held called "Week of doctoral students". The main organizers and coordinators were the representatives of the internal PhD students from individual institutes. These were partnered with management institutes with the support management of the faculty who created the conditions for financial and organizational management of the three-day event.
27.02.2013 Interviews with Practice V.
On the 25th of February 2013 at the Faculty of Materials Science and Technology in Trnava was held, the 5th lecture in the series "Interviews with Practice". The lecture was given by Branislav Hunčík, PhD., CHRO (Chief HR Officer) – Penta Investments, s.r.o., Prague. The lecture consisted of three parts. In the first part Branislav Hunčík, PhD. explained the issue of key performance indicators and the management process of the company. Valuable information was presented stating that that the company should not focus solely on benchmarking key performance indicators, but primarily on strategic key indicators, emphasising the philosophy that it is important to: "Measure what is measurable, and make measurable what is not". A key and important part of the discussion was the interconnection of practice and theory when measuring performance indicators. The second part of the lecture was a practical demonstration of key performance indicators of the company practice. In conclusion was the discussion, where audience had an opportunity to ask questions.

24.01.2013 New Year’s meeting
The New Year's meeting of employees and friends of the MTF STU presented an opportunity to assess the previous year and a foresight of activities that await us in the coming year. The year 2012 was an exceptional success, not only due to the success of the faculty but because it celebrated the 75th anniversary of the STU.
30.01.2013 Open Day
The Open Day of the MTF STU in Trnava was held on the 30th January 2013 (Wednesday).
The event aims to inform secondary school students, particularly potential candidates for undergraduate studies at the MTF – about accredited programs of the faculty, technical material, instrumentation, the facilities of the departments, the system of care for students, and the admission procedure for the academic year 2013/2014.
30.01.2013 Dies Iovis Occurssus XXVIII
The year 1150 marked the anniversary of the arrival of Saints Cyril and Methodius in our territory. In the frame of the 28th continuation of Dies Iovis Occurssus, the guest of the Dean- Prof. Dr. Ing. Oliver Moravčík, was the important church historian - Bishop of the Diocese of Nitra -Prof. ThDr. William Judák, PhD. The topic of the lecture was the same as one of his publications named, Living heritage, which is devoted to this important historical event.
