THE AIMS OF EDUCATION
The graduate of the study program Production Technologies and Production Management has an option to specialize by selecting one of the three modules of the study program.
The graduate of the study module Machining and Forming Technology
Knowledge:
- acquires deep theoretical knowledge in the field of manufacturing technologies (machining, welding, forming, casting, assembly), engineering materials, production systems and devices, tools, manufacturing processes planning, metrology and quality management systems supported by knowledge of CAx technologies applied in this field,
- has knowledge of product development applying machining and forming technology and is ready to design machining and forming processes including their economical evaluation.
Skills:
- the graduate is able to comprehensively assess the engineering materials selection, is able to design the machining and forming processes, including processes of quality assurance, testing and inspection and is prepared to apply the principles of design for manufacturing,
- has the ability to apply up-to-date knowledge for solving various problems from the field of machining and forming technology,
- can innovate and optimize existing machining and forming processes and systems,
- can process the results of work in the form of technical reports and presentations and can communicate them effectively,
- can apply principles of safety and health in his work,
- has a managerial, economic, legal, environmental and ethical awareness that can apply in professional performance.
Competences:
- has analytical, creative thinking that can apply in the design and innovation of machining and forming processes,
- works self-directed in solving professional tasks and projects,
- can communicate his conclusions and solutions, and the knowledge and rationale underpinning these, to specialist and non-specialist audiences clearly and unambiguously,
- is able to work effectively in a multicultural team, cooperate and motivate people, take responsibility for the team's results,
- can communicate at a high professional level at all levels of management and also communicate with project authorities,
- is able to plan and organize his work and related activities and independently acquire new knowledge,
- has the ability to identify, quantify and evaluate the social and environmental impacts of problem- solving,
- is ready to study the third cycle of the university education program (PhD degree) and to build a scientific perspective within the manufacturing technologies with emphasis on the machining and forming processes and systems with sufficient support of information technology.
Application / Scope:
- can find employment in the field of product design and process planning, research and development and in the field of services as a mechanical engineer specialized in manufacturing technologies, technologist – CNC programmer, quality engineer, production manager, member or head of development teams or project manager.
The graduate of the study module Production technologies and production management
Knowledge:
- masters properties of metallic and non-metallic materials and technologies of their processing, including a theory of physical principles of the conventional and advanced manufacturing processes,
- has education in the field of manufacturing technologies extended by the knowledge from the field of industrial engineering, managerial and economic disciplines,
- masters the methods of planning, management, optimization and innovation of production processes.
Skills:
- has the ability to apply up-to-date knowledge for solving a technical problem within the branch of study,
- can innovate and optimize existing production processes and systems,
- can apply principles of safety and health in his work,
- can process the results of work in the form of technical reports and presentations and can communicate them effectively,
- has managerial, economic, social, moral and environmental awareness.

Application / Scope:
- with regard to the acquired key and professional competencies, the graduate is ready to be employed in the positions of process specialist or management specialist (manager) in engineering plants, can work in departments of product design, process planning and quality assurance. The graduate can also find employment in the field of services or as a research and development engineer.
The graduate of the module Welding and joining of materials
Knowledge:
- has knowledge of theoretical and applied scientific disciplines related to the production of high quality, economically acceptable and safe products made by welding or other technology of joining at the quality level required by the practice,
- has deep theoretical knowledge in the field of advanced structural materials, including the latest technologies for their joining and modern methods of joint quality control. The graduate masters modern information and communication technologies.
Skills and abilities:
- is able to comprehensively assess the selection of materials, design for manufacturing and is able to design the processes of material joining including quality assurance, testing, and inspection,
- is able to solve a technical problem in the field of welding and joining of materials and can apply the latest knowledge in the field,
- can innovate and optimize existing processes and systems of welding and joining of materials,
- can process the results of work in the form of technical reports and presentations and can communicate them effectively,
- can apply principles of safety and health in his work,
- has a managerial, economic, legal, environmental and ethical awareness that can apply in the practice.
Competences:
- has the ability to think analytically, critically re-evaluate the current state of knowledge of science and technology, design and implement the required technological processing of structural materials, assess the quality of welds according to international standards, estimate the lifetime of welded and by other technologies made joints, as well as assess their safety,
- works self-directed in solving professional tasks, projects and coordination of partial activities,
- is able to work effectively in a multicultural team, cooperate and motivate people, take responsibility for the team's results,
- can plan and organize work and independently acquire new knowledge, can present their opinions and solutions,
- is aware of the social, ethical and economical context of his profession and is able to use appropriate approaches for their fulfilment,
- is ready to study the program of the third cycle of university education (PhD degree) and to build a scientific perspective within the manufacturing technologies with emphasis on the welding and joining processes, with sufficient support of information technology.
Application / Scope:
- will be employed in the industrial and technological area, in product and process design departments, in research and development departments, but also in services, certification offices and management departments as a welding engineer, specialist in manufacturing processes, quality engineer or head of manufacturing operations.
