Protection of information technology areas and electronic infrastructure against fire by the use of oxygen reduction in the protected area.
|
Supervisor |
Prof. Ing. Karol Balog,PhD.
|
Annotation |
On the basis of assessment fire-safety parameters of combustible materials contained in the computing centres and rooms with information technology will examine the conditions of initiation and promotion process, depending on the concentration of oxygen. The critical conditions of the process non-flame and flame burning and influences of heat sources to the initiation phase of fire burning will be studied. On the basis of acquired knowledge and the developed fire scenarios with the proposed fire prevention system on the basis of the oxygen reduction in the protected area.

Analysis of safety requirements for wood buildings in terms of fire safety and their comparison with conventional buildings |
Supervisor |
Prof. Ing. Karol Balog, PhD.
|
Annotation |
Work will be focused on the analysis of wooden ground floor or high buildings and studies of the fire development conditions. On the basis of the material assessment the fire development scenarios will be compiled regarding study of the fire development phases. These scenarios are assessed for wooden or conventional buildings in order to propose a method for performative assessment of fire risk. |

Environmental impacts of foams used for fire fighting |
Supervisor |
Associated Professor Ing. Ivana Tureková, PhD. |
Annotation |
Fire-fighting foams, which are brought into the environment for extinguishing fires can adversely affect soil, water, and then nature. The aim of the doctoral thesis will be the study of the physico-chemical, ecotoxicological and extinguishing characteristics of the foams and their impacts on the environment, including the availability of waste disposal. |
Topic |
Study of thermal stress of lignocellulosic materials |
Supervisor |
Associate Professor Ing. Ivana Tureková, PhD. |
Annotation |
The work will be focused on the studying of the lignocellulosic materials behaviour in the process of thermal stress. The result will be the acquisition of fire-technical characteristics, which will be useful in practice for the evaluation and comparison of materials and the designing of safety measurements.

The study of fire-technical properties relating to dusty compounds |
Supervisor |
Associate Professor Ing. Ivana Tureková, PhD |
Annotation |
The work will be focused on the study of the dusty mixtures relationship and process parameters regarding the ignition and auto ignition of the materials. The different initiation sources, selected types of dusts and various external factors used in order to obtain the most comprehensive overview of the test particles will be used. |
